Will you Stand Up Against Poverty with NY Faith & Justice?
October 17 is the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty. Last year around this day, 23.5 million people around the world stood up against poverty and set a Guinness World Record of people taking action against poverty. This year, the UN Millennium Campaign and its partner, the Global Call to Action Against Poverty, will attempt to break this record.
NY Faith and Justice is partnering with the UN Millennium Campaign to organize this years’ Stand Up Against Poverty action in New York City because we affirm Dr. Martin Luther King Jr’s reminder: “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.” We believe the crush of poverty anywhere is a threat to God’s peace everywhere. We also affirm the need for the UN Millennium Development Goals to extend to the most impoverished corners of the U.S. So, come Stand Up Against Poverty with NY Faith & Justice!
